Ft. Lauderdale bound

We arose early, as usual. We headed out about 7:30am. Today would be a longer day. About 35-40 miles to the anchorage at Lake Sylvia in Ft Lauderdale. Today would bring many bascule bridges (some on a schedule and some "on-demand"). Unfortunately, more were on a schedule that we had difficulty meeting with a slower boat, heavy tides/current and odd schedules. We ended up waiting anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes for a couple of the 21 bridges.

Our departure from the anchorage in Lake Worth, took us past Palm Beach inlet. We encountered our first container ship coming into port (many Tropical containers aboard). This area has a LOT of money. I took just a couple shots of the yachts that hung along the waterway!

All in all, it was a nice day. We arrived at anchor around 6pm (wiped!). Nice anchorage and nice restful sleep.

The winds have turned north and we weren't sure we'd find a comfortable anchorage further down south, so we decided to stay at Lake Sylvia through the weekend. Friday we took the dinghy in to do some shopping. There is a dinghy dock at the end of the one of the canals (as well as a raw bar). They charge $10 to tie up your dinghy, but you can use that towards your bill at the restaurant, if you so choose. We did. Nice blackened mahi sandwich, a few fries and some cold beer!

Today (Saturday), the winds were cool this morning. Temps were in the low 60's and the wind made it feel even cooler. The skies are sunny and life is good!

Hi Debbie, glad you and Jean are doing well. It's had been windy and cooler this weekend. Lighthouse looks pretty and the yacht are huge! You have a blessed weekend :-)
