Beautiful weather sunny and warm (30 degrees C). Heard about the cold and snow at home and were very sorry to have missed it.

Went out in morning as fishing crew on the boat. Set out two fish lines to catch fish rather than crayfish. We then checked and rebaited the crayfish pots. Had a good haul of 17 crayfish although 6 were too small and were returned to the sea. After lunch, no rest for fisherfolk, went out again in boat to hoist up fishing lines. We caught 10 good sized Gurnards which are attractive fish. This was a slight disappointment to some of our party as steak was on the menu if not enough fish were caught. We set free 3 small sharks and an eel that were caught but not wanted. During this trip we encountered a pod of about 10 dolphins who played alongside the boat. I tried my hand at rod and reel fishing and caught a huge Kahawai fish which gets bigger every time I tell the story. This fish is to be smoked for tomorrow. Enjoyed another superb meal, on the verandah, in which the Gurnards, caught

Boat and tractor combo - ready for launching
earlier, played a starring role. The C.O. organised the field kitchen cooking the fish to the satisfaction of all. Wine again featured highly and we went to bed very satisfied. We are now feeling very relaxed in a beautiful location amongst good friends. Just what we need after a hectic schedule.

Again us fisher folk were out before 09.00 hours to check the crayfish pots baited yesterday. Brian has his own pots and also checks the pots belonging to a neighbour. This is a reciprocal arrangement that appears to work well. A moderate haul of crayfish shared with the neighbor's son. Returned to port by 10.30 hours to be met by the C.O. and a fresh set of orders. We route marched along the beach. A beautiful day that we spent on and around the beach. The jet ski is part of the equipment of the beach house. A little later, we went for a jet ski ride commonly called a "blat". I was a little inelegant getting onto the jet ski and the C.O. was inelegant getting off. Luckily, no papperazzi.

Sundown on the verandah with another superb meal using the steak with the smoked Kahawai as an entree.

This place is a paradise.

Story so far.
Enjoying reading of your adventures so far. Very envious as we battle the snow and cold miserable temperatures. Having trouble working out why the CO has not been relieved of her command, and yourself not promoted. Xx
