We devoted today to the Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral. Also made a stop by a section of the Roman Wall that was built around Londinium during the late 3rd Century(we know the place today as London). It was also used during the middle ages.
The Tower of London has a very colorful history. Begun after the Norman conquest in order to keep all the Anglo-Saxons in line, it was in turn used as a royal residence, watch tower and a place to keep and execute prisoners. Henry VIII had the head of two of his wives removed at this place. Sheila remains undeterred. There is a picture of the Tower from across the Thames we sent earlier. Today we will only include the White Tower, which comprises a small portion and is where the royals lived when it was a palace. The Crown Jewels are guarded here by folks with automatic weapons. It includes a 500 carat diamond in the Queer's crown if we remember correctly that was over 3000 carats before cutting.
The day was concluded at St. Paul's Cathedral, which includes 341 spiral steps, which we climbed. Sheila even possess a pin signifying the fact. This is another enormous building, for which pictures are not allowed. We took one outside (yes, that is allowed) near the top looking down on a portion of the Cathedral.
