After a final yummy breakfast at the fancy Perdana Hotel in Kota Bharu, we drove for close to 8 hours across the East-West Highway, which wound round and round many mountains. We searched for the mighty gajah but didn't see any, just the crossing sign warnings.

We arrived in K.L. around 4 to the same hotel we started at - and where we had left the NZ suitcase. After a re-sort, we drove south to meet Joseph and Anita Pragasam, dear friends from Marriage Encounter, whom we met in 1999 and 2002. They suggested a North Indian restaurant. What a wonderful way to end our 2 weeks in Malaysia.

It is so much easier to get around with the GPS on Jean's phone - best $40 we ever spent, buying the SIM card and month's time on it, so we could download googlemaps.

Observations: even the secondary roads are busy, and towns line them, making for many stretches of roads with shops and houses and more shops, rather than country scenery. The drivers are worse than those in New Jersey 😊 but David is an amazing driver. Malaysians never stop eating - we were told it was a "national past-time," so "restorans" and food stalls are everywhere.

Durian are in season, and sold on the side of the road everywhere, but we still didn't try any. Besides, the car rental company forbids them in the car, and no self-respecting hotel allows them (check them out on Google). So the "king of fruit" was not for us.

All packed up and ready for the 2 hr flight to Bangkok and 12 hrs to Auckland!!! Greatly in need of the laundry facilities there.
