Happy Happpy Halloweeeeen!!!!
Apparently only Americans go all out for this holiday. No pumpkins anywhere in my neighborhood?! No halloween parties last weekend?! Whaaat is this nonsense!!
I told my host dad it's my favorite holiday. So we are going trick or treating tonight and Big Beast and I decorated the door last night. She has been begging us to be a pumpkin family for a few weeks. So I guess i'm going as a momma pumpkin..... She's the baby pumpkin. I told her I wanted to be a princess and she said you are only allowed to be something scary....dang.
Last weekend Jordan and I went up to Nelson Bay because Jordan was supposed to have a spearfishing competition Saturday to Sunday. So, Saturday morning I go on a boat with Jordan's mom and a few of her friends. We boated to an island that was having an oyster fest (No, I do not like to eat the boogers)! Lots... and lots.... of wood chopping competitions as well as oyster eating competitions. It was super fun! It ended up that Jordan's competition got cancelled because the water was too murky to see anything. Which
means no lobster for me 😞
During this boat trip I learned that I really need to keep up with 80's and 90's classics. They played One Direction and Taylor Swift every 10 songs for my enjoyment. Also, I learned that I can't keep up with that generation.... lots and lots of dancing.. and beer.
Sunday consisted of laying around and many games of Scrabble (winner will not be disclosed...Jordan).
The weather is very interesting this time of year. It is about 70 or 80 throughout the day and then around 4pm come huge thunderstorms! It's awesome, actually. The other day a big storm was coming so the beasts, our 2 neighbors (6 and 9 y.o) came over to watch it. It started hailing and the girls went crazy. The neighbors have never seen snow before so they absolutely loved it. We all went outside and collected the hail (little beast insisted on eating all of them).
However, this week is down to the 60's again. strange, strange weather. Seems like Chicago spring!
This past weekend my host family went to Tamworth. A little town about 3 hours from here and I chose
to stay home to enjoy Halloween weekend out with my friends, (Halloween weekend- when the only girls in costumes at the bars are americans and germans- and the bouncers ask 'whats the occasion'?).
My beasts are doing well. We put my little beast in pull ups - which she absolutely hates - and put her on the toilet three times a day - which she hates even more. How could someone hate a little 'me time' on the toilet?! I also don't understand toddlers hatred of naps?! Two best times of the day if you ask me. 😊
Little beast is just learning more and more words everyday. She used to be hesitant about trying new words but now she will copy most of the things I say. Especially when her big sis bribes her with toys. Her new ones are 'hot' , 'food', 'now' , 'bus' , 'dog' , 'peppa' (tv show).
Big beast is definitely turning into a 6 year old girl. She comes home from school the other day
"Madi, do you know what the f-word is?"
Me: "food...?" (wrong)
Apparently, Harry is saying it around school.
Yesterday she comes home asking me to pick truth or dare.. She says she plays that during recess with
both of her boyfriends! Oh, to be young again.
We have noticed that Big Beast has been a little anxious lately. Her school musical is today and tomorrow - which of course the parents and I all have to see at 3 different times because of the little beast. Big Beast woke up this morning and refused to go to school because she was so nervous 😞 But, we got her there and I'm sure she will be just fine and ready to trick or treat tonight!!
The other day I was walking through Target and 1) don't bring a 2 year old to Target. 2) I saw the book 'Mummy Bloggers' on the shelf and just had to get it. It's an australian book about three moms that blog and it just was calling my name. I'll let ya know what I rate it.
I'll be home so soon! I'm missing fall weather a lot but this heat is pretty awesome as well!
Sending love overseas
XOXOXo
