Kangaroo somewhere ! Hi everyone,
Had early morning wake up call at 5.40 ?Arrived in Alice Springs about 12.30pm.weather beautiful. Not humid but around 30*. Got to wear my new hat for the first time. Had just 1/2 hour before we were picked up for an afternoon tour. First we were taken to a view point where there was a war memorial. Saw our first real life Australian kangeroo( at a distance). After this we were driven to a school of the air. We sat in on a live lesson which was being given to a number of children who live more than50 km away from their nearest school and some a lot more. Quite fascinating
.After this we went to see the original Bush Telegraph office. As we got out of the bus a few Galah birds flew overhead. Very noisy. Third stop was to see how the Flying Doctor operated. There was a short film and talk then we were able to go inside a replica Flying Doctor plane. A very interesting visit.
Finally we were taken for a look at some reptiles and a crocodile. All was great until the guide decided to explain how to react if you

War memorial come across a deadly snake. To make matters worse we were informed that there were hundreds in this area and many were caught each week and rescued then taken some distance away. Some were captured from the streets and gardens but also fro the local hotels! We had second thoughts about venturing out to eat this eve. However we are true brits and can face adversity with a smile ?We put on our filled in shoes and carefully walked to a restaurant. Don't worry we did make it back in one piece but I have never watched where we were walking so carefully .On returning to our room we were met with darkness. All the power had gone. Luckily it was soon put right and we can go to bed with a light on( so we can check for snakes in the night.) Lol

Snakes
I did mention the snakes! Watch out for the brown snakes which are amongst the deadliest but look so innocuous! Loving the photos! And the digs at Pat!!
