blog 10-03-17 Russion River to Gilroy, CA

We were up early with Alfie barking because he was cold so we covered him but by then it was too late to go back to bed. We stumbled around trying to wake up and finally got it together and were out of there by 10 am. I had talked to some residents of San Francisco that were camping here and they said the way we mapped out would be a good route. But you never know how the traffic would be at any given time. We kept hearing about the traffic in the San Fran area and I was a little nervous but we decided to just go with the flow.

I drove first so that would leave Ginnie driving through the worst of the traffic and I could navagate because it was going to be tricky. We each have our talents.

We found a spot to pull over to change drivers but the dogs couldn't get out, it was too dangerous for them. We made it through some road changes then the next change the road sign was so faded from the sun that you couldn't read it so we missed our turn. Ginnie pulled off at the next exit, we got in the northbound lane and found our road that way, worked fine. When we got onto rt 680 south we had it made and followed that until we reached 101 south again. The traffic was very light and we motored along just fine. What's everybody talking about???

Our campground is in Gilroy, CA where a friend of Ginnie's lives and after we settled onto our site she came over for a visit. We ended up going over to her house about 15 min from us and we and the dogs had a great time enjoying her back yard. The dogs ran all over, chased each other and smelled all the great smells of a whole new world. We enjoyed all the plants and suculants and the different sections, all special in their own right.

We all came back to the camper to feed the dogs and we got a pizza to share for our dinner. We sat and talked about what we would do tomorrow and the next few days that we will be here.

There is a dog park here that we will have to explore tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn because Phillis is going to come and pick us up at 9 am for our visit to San Francisco tomorrow.

Another early night.

Gilroy
Dan and I attended the Gilroy garlic festival while we were visiting Jen in year. You are close to her. Well further south I believe, but we took 680 to get to her house. She is about an hour east of San Francisco.
