blog 10-07-17 San Juan Bautista Phyllis came over this morning for a breakfast of oatmeal pancakes and sausage, it was a great start to the day. We were being treated to another tour, this time going to the local "Old West Town" named San Juan Bautista. There was an old mission there where monks would travel on the El Camino Real from mission to mission 21 in all and this is one of them. It was established in the summer of 1797 and has withstood fire, earthquakes and time. The Alfred Hitchcock's movie Vertigo was filmed on the Mission grounds in Oct, 1957. I will include lots of pictures and let them tell the story. It is truly an amazing place with so much history. The cemetery, which was very moving for me, was installed in ... read more

blog 10-06-17 Pebble Beach Eat your hearts out my wonderful golf friends, I was at Pebble Beach today. What an unbelievably beautiful course with grass that rivals anything I have ever seen. No, I didn't get to play just look but who could play a game of golf with the views you have here. Phyllis picked us up at 9:45 am and we went to the Monterey Peninsula to see the sights. It was about a 45 min drive through some of the state's best farms. Gilroy ( where we are staying) is the garlic capital of the world and on the way to Monterey we passed the artichoke capital of the world Castroville. There were fields with artichokes, strawberries, brussel sprouts and fields covered with tents of cheesecloth that were probably berry bushes of some ... read more

Blog 10-05-17 Responsibility Day Yes, even when one is on vacation or a 3 month road trip there are times when you just have to stop having fun and do the laundry and the shopping. We had nothing to eat and nothing to wear so it was well beyond time to take care of business. After a lengthy walk for the dogs we took the car to a car wash which happened to be a do it yourself establishment so we read the instructions and inserted the money. First there was the rinse then the foaming brush which I loved then the final rinse which was a real blaster. In 4 min we had the car shining like new and with the dry air here it took 2 min to air dry. Next we headed to ... read more

Blog 10-04-17 San Francisco We had a date this morning with Ginnie's friend Phyllis to venture into San Francisco and see the sights. Phyllis lives in Gilroy, a town 1 1/2 hrs south of the city, and has been a friend of Ginnie's for years and she was excited to show us the town. We left the campground at 9 am and were on 101 North in a very short time, eager for our adventure. The traffic was moderate so we were able to sail right along. About 35 min up the road it was a different story, we encountered heavy traffic and it became stop and go. We were amazed at the way drivers let one another in at any given time, everyone was patient and courteous. The only ones who disturbed us were the ... read more

blog 10-03-17 Russion River to Gilroy, CA We were up early with Alfie barking because he was cold so we covered him but by then it was too late to go back to bed. We stumbled around trying to wake up and finally got it together and were out of there by 10 am. I had talked to some residents of San Francisco that were camping here and they said the way we mapped out would be a good route. But you never know how the traffic would be at any given time. We kept hearing about the traffic in the San Fran area and I was a little nervous but we decided to just go with the flow. I drove first so that would leave Ginnie driving through the worst of the traffic and I ... read more

After all the planning and preparation, I'm finally on the road and not a moment too soon. At 5am, after one final safety check, I straddled the Mothership and thumbed the big six cylinder to life. Usually my bike likes a little choke in the morning until it warms up and smooth out but not today. She lit right up at a touch of the starter and settled into a smooth grumbling idle as if to say "Forget the choke, forget warming up. I'm ready, let's do this." I concurred completely. Clutch in, down into first and we were off. Before 6am, the L.A. freeway system is actually functional. I found myself cruising along in light traffic at about 75 mph, a feat that is unachievable from the hours of 6AM to 11PM most days. http://i398.photobucket.com/albums/pp67/msapers/IMG_20170619_044835717_zpsw ... read more

Geo: 37.0044, -121.572Its the last day of our vacations, and then its back to working hard... So we can play hard some more. :D We only had about a four hour drive north up 101 today.First stop was breakfast at Paula's Pancake House, though. I had to try Danish pancakes, which ended up being like a cross between American pancakes and French crepes. I didn't get mine with fruit, though. I meant to get a picture but I think Arya grabbed at something, and I dove for her instead. Oh well. They are definitely good and I recommend them! After that, we drove a few minutes down the highway to Ostrichland USA. If you have kids, like animals or both, this is a neat stop. Adults are $6, kids are $3, and you get a bowl of ... read more

So we left our hotel and as we were travelling for some hours we decided to take a stop at a shopping outlet in a place called Gilroy. We ate at an applebees and looked around all the shops. We had a long drive to our next stop,a hotel around 20 minutes drive from the Yosemite national park. We had a relaxing night since we had drove for most of the day,we grabbed some food from a local supermarket and had an early night.... read more
