Rome and Venice -- Attend festivals or avoid them?
16 years ago, April 1st 2008 No: 1 Msg: #31382
We are planning a trip to Italy in late April, including Rome and Venice. I noticed that Rome celebrates their birthday on April 21, and Venice has a big celebration on April 25. Has anyone been in those cities during that time? Would you recommend participating in the festivals, or visiting another time when it's "less" crowded? Reply to this

April 25 is a National Day in Italy. On this day Italy celebrates its liberation by fascists and many events are held in many Italian city. As is a National Day many shops will be closed. Said that, I suppose there always are a lot of tourists in Rome and in Venice, with or whitout Festivals Reply to this
