Looking for good Hostels.

Title should say it all. Looking for a good Hostel in both Paris and Prague. Most of what I'm seeing on Hostels.com is $40-70 USD per night (in Paris)... many with curfews, lockouts and such.

I prefer a Hostel with a Common room so you can lounge around, chit chat, etc after a day of exploring.

So far, best thing at a decent price in Paris seems to be here: http://www.hostels.com/en/availability.php/HostelNumber.2303

For Prague I'm eyeing this one:

Best place for internet info on hostels is IMO - Hostelz.com Reply to this

If you like clubs, I hear there is a rocking place called "Duplex" in Prague... FYI.

Start learning a little mandarin now 😉

Thanks for the link Kenyon, I really liked that site, and having the links to the Hostels directly. A lot more Hostels in Paris than I thought... and here I thought Hostels.com was a good reference. Blah! Thanks Ali for Hostelz... that's obviously much better too.

After looking at tons of reviews, locations, etc... I think I'll be going here: http://www.aijparis.com/framea.htm. Doesn't look like much, but the reviews were ok, the price is right.

Prague... so many to choose from. I'm looking at http://www.miss-sophies.com/ and http://www.sirtobys.com/. Both appear to have good reviews, good location, and really clean.

Damn I can't wait... a week and a half and I'm off!!! Reply to this

Miss Sophies in Prague was VERY nice. Very close to the metro, and a short walk into Old Town. Not right in the middle of Old Town like other hostels, which may be good and bad, but this place was true luxury.

400 Krown per night.
4 bed mixed rooms.
Spotless clean sheets, huge down duvet, oversized pillow, and no bunk beds. Large slide out footlockers under bed. Big enough for my backpack and then some.
Bathrooms were awesome... clean, modern, fancy, great showers, the works.
Elevator to all floors.
Large secure luggage room for early arrivals.
Secure building. After dark requires buzzed in. Must leave key at desk and pick up when you come back showing your reservation/bill/slip.
Nice lounge area downstairs with kitchen. Sadly no one used it much when I was there. No atmosphere it seemed. Maybe everyone out getting hammered in Prague.
2 free internet terminals. No seating at them.
Staff VERY helpful and attentive.

Maison International des Jeunes in Paris... Didn't like it at all. As one of the reviews in the following link says, try for the Auberge de Jeunesse which is 10 minutes away from this one. Much better.

Will write more when I can keep my eyes open longer.

You might try this hostel...it's near the Eiffel Tower too and has a decent pub attached for that chat time you want.

Would've been nice to know about that, looks ok. Montmartre is a little out of the way, but has some beautiful views of the city and some nice sites. Reply to this

Hey all.

In Paris, look up the Hotel du Commerce. Not the most luxurious place, but the price is exactly right and the location is great (near Notre Dame on the south bank of the Seine). Very interesting building, too. ParisHostel

In Prague, I stayed at the Old Prague Hostel. Cost hardly anything, and once again, the price was great (cheapest we found anywhere on our trip). The location is great, too, right near Old Town Square. Dormitory rooms, so I guess it's hit or miss on the roomies, but we had cool people in the room.

I met someone on the way out of Prague that stayed at the Old Prague Hostel. He liked it too. I'd say give it a try since it's so close to Old Town square. The one I stayed at was a 5-10 minute walk, but totally acceptable. Reply to this
