what to do in/around Paris
16 years ago, February 4th 2008 No: 1 Msg: #26675
So next week i'm visiting Paris for a day with a good friend of mine, I'm wandering what you guys think would be the best place(s) to go, things to see?

I'd like to go up the Eiffel Tower, because i love the experience <3
But in terms of eating places and cafés, can anyone recommend any? Maybe not really close to the attractions, a little bit off the beaten track, a little bit unique 😊

Thanks~ Reply to this

Paris

Hi, I have been many times to Paris and lived there as well two times. It's a great city to visit but to live.. Well I guess you just want to visit Paris anyway.

If you want you can take a look at this
Tourist guide for Paris here you read up on a couple of good tips about Paris attractions and so forth.

Paris Accommodation

If you would need any advise on cheap accommodation than check out this cheap hotel guide or just ask me. I have been backpacking to Paris about 7 times so far and its each time an exiting experience. If you are looking for less budget hotels but more upscale like economic 3 star or 4 star hotels in Paris I can def. recommend you the hotel "l'universite" just next to the Louvre museum. I once meet the main receptionist from this hotel, we were staying in the same hostel. He showed me everything there and its good value for money it seems.

Oh, well accommodation isn't a problem because we've got somewhere to stay outside of Paris monday-friday, we're just visiting central Paris for the one day in the middle of the week so wanted to make the most of it.

That website's really useful though! thanks 😊

Mainly needed just an eatery for the evening if you knew of any good ones, i think the Eiffel Tower is definately a must.

Hello,
I work as a tour-guide in France and living in Paris. You know that Paris has many many places to visit, and you will find all the informations at the Tourist Office in Opera station ( Pyramides is closer, on line 14 ). It will be impossible for me, and I work as a tour-guide, to describe Paris. Because you can enjoy Paris in soooo many ways : nightlife, culture, beauty...There are thousand ways to visit the city. But I will be glad to help you if you precise a little bit^^
Remember that Paris is one of all France has to offer, many tourists come only in Paris. You can check my blog, I post pictures o France during my tours and you have some informations. http://kantanfrance.vox.com/

Mont-Saint-Michel, Loire castles, Champagne region can be wonderful experiences to leave^^

C U !

when in paris, i highly recommend going to this wonderful and historic restaurant/ patisserie called La Duree. there is one on the champs d'ellysee and one in st. germain. they are known for inventing the 'macaron' not to be confused with a macaroon- totally different and incomparable.

for perfumes, go to L'Artisan in the 6th arrondisement.

dont miss the Luxembourg gardens. theyre soooo wonderful.

the louvre was cool too although i much prefer the museums i went to in spain.

hit up the rive guache (left side of the seine) for a different take on the city.

cafe mabillion is super cool if you wanna go to a hip cafe- its in st. germain

go to brasserie lipp for an authentic french meal. its kate moss' favorite place. its on blvd st. germain.

have fun!!!
