hi, i plan to backpack in tuscany and rome in mid june thru mid july 08 with my boyfriend and want travelbloggers' suggestions on decent, cheap hostels in these areas from your experience? we like simple, clean hostels, not party hostels but not dead places, ideally n ot english ghettos! weblinks and any other info you have would be great. cheers!
Reply to this In Rome I stayed at Hostel Beautiful 2, and Hotel des artistes. I would recommend the second one. It is clean, has a common room, I made friends, but def not a party hostel, we went out to party. It also has a nice rooftop garden. It is both a hotel and a hostel, so you get both of best worlds, plus it is affordable. The former was small, hot, and smelly.
