hi im an 18yr old male, and im very keen to go traveling through europe with my friend who is 19yrs old. Im worried it might be a dangerous thing for an 18yr old to do, i really want to do it. Also i havnt got a clue were to start with research into how to do it really and how much money id need to save before going. I live in the UK so i wouldnt really need a plane ticket so that cuts down alot of the cost. Im happy staying in hostels or even camping if i have to, but i have not got a clue were i would find these hostels.
if you can help i would be very greatfull 😊
also i would love to go to place were there is some wonderfull music to hear live.

i dont think going to europe at 18 is to young at all, i was going to go at 16 alone, its pretty safe, as far as hostels check out hostelworld.com, or just type hostels in google. chech out train costs on rail europe webs and if tour guides are not an option print out or buy a touristy map of the city your going to , basically spend alot of backaching time on the computer. I don't think you are too young. 18 years old is already the age you can decide and protect you by yourself.
First of all, I think it's important that you calculate the money you can spend.
About the flight, there are many low cost airlines. You can find out in google "low cost airline" .
clickair, easyjet, ryanair etc... always offer the cheap flight tickets.

there are chap hostels all over the Europe, you can book on-line.

I think it depends on your maturity. When I was that age i was looking to party, and have a good time. This sometimes clouds your judgement. Don't let other 18 years olds tell you you're old enough, it's a personal choice, and there is a risk. Do your research then decide. If you do go, remember to always put safety first.

In my opinion, I think 18 is young to go across europe. You'll have a much better time in your 20s when you have more money, and more life experience to make what you see meaningful. Reply to this

Wow I was in exactly the same situation as you where last year, 18, living in the UK and on a gap year (i assume?). I worked for 6 months on the highest paying job i could find. It was horrible. Then I went travelling to central america for 3 months. I did this on my own and organised the entire thing on myself, it was without a doubt the BEST 3 months of my life, if you have the will to go and see europe then I think you should definitly do it. Simply by taking the time to write this tread you have shown to me at least that you are mature enough to go travelling, espcially around europe with a friend, which is fairly friendly.

Budjet wise.... I spent about £2500 total in my 3 months in Central America, and I did alot of stuff like diving and such. Europe will be more expensive than this, but as a guide I would say £500 pounds a month minimun to cover transport, food and hostel money. If really hard to say though, so what I did was just work till you have more cash than you need, then you wont need to worry about money all the time - which is really annoying when your trying to enjoy yourself.

As said www.hostelworld.com is magic. Take a look right now to get an idea of how much you will be paying in certain areas. Bar that, you'd be amazed how you will be able to find somewhere to sleep when you have to. Reply to this
