Visiting Italy

I am planning to cover Genova, Milan, Verona, Bolgona & Florence in 12 days. How feasible is this itinerary? Also, what would be the best mode of transport?

Hi friends,

I am planning to visit Italy in early 2018. I am planning to cover Genova, Milan, Verona, Bolgona & Florence in 12 days. How feasible is this itinerary?

Also, what would be the best mode of transport? I would prefer to get a self-drive car. Will Indian driving license be accepted to rent a car there? Reply to this

I would say that this is absolutely possible. I would go by Train as These big cities should be well connected by railway and you don't have to bother with parking. I was once looking desperately for a parking space in Bologna and near´ly I would have never found my car again. Also parking in venice might be more expensive. Also 12 days for the cities are absolutely fine. Reply to this

Italy’s great food, beautiful countryside, fabulous wine, and long history make it an excellent country to visit.
Travel by Train in Italy is an efficient way to get around. Most of the country is served very well by the railway.

To Answer your question "Will Indian driving license be accepted to rent a car there?" No. You can't drive around Italy with only an Indian Drivers License. It is best to get an International Driving Permit. You get a translation of your license in many European languages and it is valid for one year.
Have a good trip.

Twelve days is very feasible. As Twag advises, take the train between these cities. Reply to this

Train is definitely the best option. I have visited Bologna, Milan, Modena, Rome, Venice and Naples - all by train. Italian trains are generally comfortable and the inter-city ones are fast. You can see more about my Italian travels on my blog <snip> Reply to this

I would also recommend trains based of my experiences in Italy, they are comfortable and affordable and there are plenty of connections. Enjoy! Reply to this

The train is easy... add Ravenna to your list.

I like to spend 3 nights in each town. I would select 4 of those locations and spend 3 nights each. Reply to this
