I'd like to buy a new digital camera before I go away again...

The Pentax 'optio' camera I'm using now is fine in terms of quality, but it takes 2 seconds to take a photo, so spontaneous pictures are impossible. It's frustrating when wandering around towns in Europe because I spend too long standing in the street.

I'd like to become a reasonable photographer, and take bright, clear pictures on a reasonable budget. Any ideas would be very welcome.

I have a Casio Exilim 750, and I simply adore my camera!!! After lugging around a heavy weight camera with dozens of features I never used, I wanted a light weight, genuinely pocket sized camera at a reasonable price. Always having used Canons before, I hesitated even though all my research pointed this to be great little camera. But after having bought it, I have not one single regret. It doesnt do great in low light conditions, but otherwise, its great for my needs. A 8 megapixel version has come out since I bought it I think.. I would recommend the Canon Ixus i7 whole heartedly! it is so compact and lightening fast. the picture quality is amazing - but i just keep it on 5mp not the 7.2. They have really come down in price also! Reply to this
