Help on where to go
17 years ago, February 9th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #10625
I am going to Malaga on 1st March - 4th March with my friend to visit a friend currently living there. However my friend who is currently living there would like to go somewhere else for our duration whilst in Malaga.

I basically would like to know if anyone could suggest a nice hotel for us to stay at with a lovely beach near by. Preferably not to far away from Malaga as our flights are from there but within a 2 hour car drive distance would be fine.

Or if not a hotel (I can easily find this myself) a nice area slightly away from Malaga where we can enjoy a nice beach, good restaurants and a nice bars.

Also is Sveille worth visiting? If not can anyone recommend anywhere in this region worth taking a look at. I\'d like to mix beach with some culture.

Take a look at Google.com.
You can try to search for Malaga's most beautiful places. Then findout where they are with Google.
Preview with Google image.

The Costa del Sol is very built up, especially the section west of Malaga. Along this stretch of coastline are some well-known holiday resorts such as Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona, all of them very popular with British and other Northern European tourists. The Costa del Sol is not the sort of area where you will find many quaint little resorts - La Cala de Mijas is quite nice, as is Nerja which is 30 miles east of Malaga and has some attractive little beaches.

Inland from Marbella and surrounded by mountains is the town of Ronda, famous for its Puente Nuevo bridge spanning the deep El Tajo gorge. Ronda has attracted many famous visitors including Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway.

Granada is also worth visiting, especially if you like a bit of culture. Make sure you see the Alhambra palace.

Excellent and quiet beaches can be found near Malaga, Huelva and Almería in the south as well as near the coasts of La Manga, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi. If you do enjoy extremely developed resort towns, there are plenty of crowded beaches on the Costa de la Luz and the Costa del Sol.

the Costa del Sol is far too crowded and touristic, I'd stick to the main cities that are really beautiful- Seville and Granada on top (and YES, the Alhambra is fantastic!!!)
