Where should I go for a short break?
17 years ago, February 6th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #10519
I am planning a holiday to go somewhere in Europe from Leeds, UK to go next month and would like to find anyone with information or tips that might help me out?

I want to go towards April 1st for a week.

Can anyone give me some recommendations about where to go? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You should check out the company I went to Europe with. I know they have a travel option where you can go to a resort in Mykonos, Greece and it's for 7 days. Also there is other tours but I'm not sure of thier specifics. It is a tour company that focuses on on ages 18-35 and you can travel with the company by yourself or with a group a friends. Check it out www.contiki.com, you'll find great ideas for trips to take. Reply to this

Jet2 fly from Leeds to a variety of destinations in Spain including Alicante (Costa Blanca), Almeria, Barcelona, Malaga (Costa del Sol), Murcia, Valencia, Mallorca and Tenerife. They also fly to Faro in Portugal which is convenient for the Algarve, and other important destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris, Prague and Rome. It all depends on the kind of thing you are looking for - nightlife, sightseeing or relaxation etc.

I think China might be a bit difficult from Leeds-Bradford, and it wasn't in Europe when I last looked at an atlas.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the response (and the european ideas!), I think Spain would be my first option. I've had a look at Jet2 and there seem to be some pretty good options. If I was to fly with Jet2 which would you say is the best Spanish desination?

Thanks, Mathers Reply to this

Hi Mathers,

the south of Spain is great in this season, I'd fly to Malaga and visit Granada and Seville... Reply to this

I would suggest Prague - it is an amazing city - perfect for a short city break! Reply to this

If you feel like flying to Spain I'd choose Barcelona or Mallorca.

Barcelona is nice for a 4-5 days stay. Try to also have a look at the Costa Brava by train.
In Mallorca try to rent a car and explore, the best of the island is not Palma or any holiday resort, its the island itself. Reply to this

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses guys.
I think i'm probably going to head out to southern Spain somewhere.
Does anyone think there is any benefit in buying flights late anymore? From looking at Jet2 it seems that I might end up paying more nearer the time. Anyone still go for late deals?

Thanks

Hi

You are probably better off booking as soon as possible if you want to get cheaper flights - prices for budget airlines usually rise as you get nearer to the day of travel.

Hi there

Yes, I'd definitely recommend Barcelona. I know of a good flat for rent (2 beds about £60 per night0 in an area called Raval which is just off the Ramblas if you're interested. If you do go to the Ramblas by the way go in the morning before it gets too crowded.

Have fun! Reply to this

Hello.
I recommend you Barcelona as well.
It's sunny and warm.

The Raval area I don't reccommend you. It's dengerous.
