Festivals and events in Europe

How can I find out what is happening and when?
10 years ago, May 24th 2013 No: 1 Msg: #171042
I am looking for any help I can get to determine when and where festivals and events are being held in Europe at any given time. I would hate to leave a city then find out later that by modifying my itinerary by a day or two I could have attended an interesting event. Help please! Reply to this

To find festivals, any decent Europe guidebook will have a list of the major events, such as Venice Carnevale (late March) and Munich Oktoberfest (starts late September), plus some of the more off-beat ones. For more, search for 'Europe festival calendar' and explore the resulting sites. Be aware that some of these guides will be sponsored by tour companies that are pushing packages.

Transport tickets and accommodation should be booked many months in advance (up to a year early!) and expect prices to be much higher than normal. Event tickets, if needed, also need to be bought many months ahead of time. Enjoy the trip, and please remember to blog it. Reply to this
