Visit Hanoi without any guiding fee !!!

I. How?
Just go with us, HanoiKids.

II. What is HanoiKids ?
It's a non-profit and non-goverment organization.
We are young Hanoians. We are Hanoi lovers. We are proud that we know every corner in our Hanoi, the city of peace. We are all students from different universities in Hanoi. Besides, we want to make friends with foreign people and introduce our city to all of you! We do it absolutely FREE, just as a friend shows his friends the city he lives, he loves with all its history, culture and people manners.

By going with us, you will not only visit Hanoi tourist spots but also understand our tradition, our people, our culture. To us, you are not tourists, you are our friends, friends of Hanoian students (!)

III. What will you gain ?
You will visit all Hanoi natural beauties, historical and cultural spots as the same way as Vietnamese, not as a tourist. There are many simple and usual things in Hanoian lives in specific and Vietnamese in general that you will never know if you get a tour from a tourist office. And you will never know how an ordinary Vietnamese life is unless you "live" with our lives (!)

IV. Why do we do it ?
You may wonder why we do it without any fee? The reasons are simple. First of all, we want to practise English with foreigners, especially native English speakers. Secondly, we want to show our city's beauties to all people in the world as far as we know.

V. How to contact us?
You can contact us by any means:

Hoan Kiem (Sword Returned) lake is the precious pearl inside Hanoi and one of the most favourite tourism spots. There must be reasons for saying that coming to Hanoi without visiting Hoan Kiem lake is just like never coming there. Hoan Kiem lake along with Rua tower (Tortoise tower) and Ngoc Son island is a place of the legend and the reality, the past and the present. An atmosphere of acient legend covers all over the lake but the architecture of Ngoc Son temple belongs to the modern. The combination of Ngoc Son temple and Hoan Kiem lake creats an antique beauty. From Ngoc Son island, seeing the great volume of busy vehicles around the lake, we can feel the spirit of ancient people still floating here and there. And like in a fairy tale, one day like all other normal days, a miracle appears when the shadow of the top of the But tower (Pen tower) is in the exact middle of the Dai Nghien (Ink-slap). We don’t know whether it’s the intention of the builder or a special gift of the nature to Hanoi.

Leaving Hoan Kiem lake, we come to Ancient Quarter. Although Ancient Quarter in the modern age is not really Ancient Quarter, we can still feel here and there something from hundred years ago which seems to be existing inside the modern city. And if you go into real ancient houses there, it’s as if you were linving in the past days when each street of this Ancient Quarter was the place of selling a certain kind of goods, and all of them created a busy trade area. To us, the Kids of Hanoi, it’s so wonderful to leave all books and studying and never-ending work and have a walk there with friends, dropping into a small food stall on the pavement and enjoy one of thousands of traditonal Vietnamese foods sold there. No word can fully express such feeling.

One of the most famous traditional specialities in Hanoi is vermicelli soup (bun). There are many kinds of vermicelli soup: vermicelli and grilled chopped meat (bun cha), vermicelli with fresh water snail (bun oc), vermicelli with pig's trotters (bun bung), ladder vermicelli (bun thang)...... and many other. Like many other noshes of Hanoi, it's best to enjoy a bowl of vermicelli soup in a small food stall on the paverment. In the past, vermicelli soup was sold by vendors, who went around the streets, calling out loud for people to come with them. When they are called, they would stop and prepare the food in front of their guests. Almost everthing was done at home in advance and they only had to put things together to make a bowl of vermicelli soup. Hanoian used to be very finical about the ingredients of vermicelli soup. For example, many knids of pig's bone were needed to make good source, or the vegetable used with vermicelli soup had to be extremely green and clean, ....... However, in the modern life, the recipe is much more simple and people are no longer too serious about eating like in the past. But if in some special day, you can sit in a small food stall on the paverment and gradually enjoy a bowl of REAL vermicelli soup, you can feel the REAL soul of Hanoi, which is not very easy to realize in these busy days. Comments made on TravelBlog about Hanoi Kids.

I'm very surprised that since you are a student in Hanoi you haven't heard about Hanoi Kids, who are brilliant and offer guided tours around Hanoi to specifically improve their language skills and also show tourists around hanoi. I used their service last October on my first day in the city and it was the best thing ever.

Glad to hear they are honest Alpbabe. They had a few accounts on TravelBlog, but we did not know if they are for real or if it is a scam. 😊

No, they are really great and very serious and organized about what they do. they actually have a website which can be googled. They have proper training sessions and the new students have chaperones before going their first time with a tourist. i really had an enjoyable day with the student I was with which we semi planned in advance.
