Hi fellow travellers!

It's that time of year again for me. Time to start thinking about where to head once school is out!
I'm not making any solid plans, but I would like to go to Europe with an idea of where I would like to end up.

I've travelled for about 6-7 months around western europe and the uk, so now I feel it is time to check out eastern Europe (particularly Croatia, Romania, and Poland) and the Scandinavian countries. If I manage to make it through the Greek islands to Turkey I will be overjoyed!
After spending a small amount of time in England visiting friends, I'll have about 2 months, 3 weeks.

So, I'm just looking for a realistic idea of if this trip is possible in this timeframe. I feel as if I could happily spend the entire three months in just one region or the other!

Any opinions on transportation would also be greatly appreciated as I know many countries in the east are not included in the Eurail pass, which is how I've often got around in the past.

Thank you so much in advance for your help and ideas!!

Hi!

It sounds like a great tour you are about to go. I would recommend that you go from Scandinavia and see how culture changes when you go south east from there. You should definitely visit Poland, Romania, Croatia and Serbia, particulary Belgrade, as it is one of the biggest cities in Balkan, it's beautiful. You shouldn't go to Greece now, because you are time limited, and you need at least a whole week to see things in Greece, it's unbelievable.
Also, I would recommend that you go to Istanbul, see their religious objects and you must try fish in restaurants under the bridge!

You should go by airplane to save some time, and you can save some money by staying in the apartments and cheaper hotels, because you can find very nice accommodation, even better than hotels "with a name" and for smaller price.

In Istanbul, I stayed in this hotel Aksaray, and I was very satisfied, it's not in very center of the city, but you are there in 10-15 min.
If you come to Belgrade, you can find an apartment here: www.stefanon.rs, I stayed there a couple of times, they are in very center, nice and clean, which is the most important thing for me. Reply to this

Belgrade is indeed a wonderful city with beautiful women. Belgrade Beer Fest is fun if you're there during that time.

From Belgrade, you should visit Sarajevo for natural beauty. The countryside between Belgrade and Sarajevo was beautiful from the bus. And as far as getting around the Balkans region, I found it easy enough and cheaper than websites to just buy a train or bus ticket at the station a day or so in advance.
