I will taking an excursion to these infamous camps. I know this really is individual, but what is the suggested, or recommended time to really explore both camps? 5 hours, half a day, a whole day???

You firstly need to get there, which will take some time. I took a train, and then bus. Then you will want to be in the camp for at least a couple of hours so you can see and read all the information they have there. All in all, I found a day for all this to be a comfortable and reasonable amount of time, to see it.
