Winter Resorts Lapland vs Switzerland

I am a student at Leeds Metropolitan University, researching into the popularity of Alpine and Nordic resorts in the Winter. Answering the questions below would greatly assist me in writing my dissertation. Thankyou!

Have you ever visited the any of the following resorts:
Finland: Levi
Rovaniemi
Switzerland: St Moritz
Zermatt
What made you choose this resort?
If you visited only one of these resorts, would you consider a resort in the other listed country?
Please give reasons for your response.

Many thanks!

I've been in Rovaniemi, and I work every now and then in Zermatt (I'm a mountain guide). Rovaniemi I won't visit again, why? Not much to do, although very nice people, indeed. I would only visit it on transit to other destination. Zermatt, yes, summer and winter, fantastic skiing and trekking. The town has a wonderful atmosphere and it's a car-free town. Reply to this

Zermatt. Because it was close and I was visiting a friend and I could travel via train. Zermatt was new to me and I had the opportunity to see the Matterhorn. It was as good as everyone said too.

Maybe Finland, but not St. Moritz. Since I lived in Switzerland, I know what I like there and well St. Moritz is just too glam and overpriced. I'd opt for way better places than that. I'm always willing to visit new exciting places if the reason/price/timing is right.

In Switzerland also consider Davos or Klosters where you can visit via train. Also, anywhere in the Valais or just outside of Lucern is very popular and easily accessible. Reply to this
