Ireland - Summer 2012

After graduating college next spring, I am hoping to travel for a couple of months, but don’t have any plans set in stone other that at least some of that time would be in Ireland. I thought I would try this out to see if anyone would be interested in joining me.

I am a 19-year-old female from the USA, next spring (spring 2012) I will be graduating from college. After graduating I am hoping to travel, but don’t have any plans set in stone. My idea is to travel light and cheap around Ireland and possibly some other places, I would like to travel around for about a month in the summer. I have been traveling all my life, mostly within the states, but have traveled through many parts of South America. Most of my traveling has been with family or friends, but none of them are interested in going / able to go this time. I am looking to meet two or three companions, male or female, who are around my age (19-25) that might be interested in joining me. Reply to this

In response to: Msg #138227 Hey! My name is Jazmin I am from Rhode Island and am also looking for a buddy to go to Ireland once I graduate next year. I really just started planning so I don't have much to go on other than I would like to stay in the countryside and go to the major cities.

Let me know if you're still looking for people/ are interested in figuring something out together! Reply to this

In response to: Msg #140938 Hey Jazmin. I haven't planned anything yet, but my plans so far sounds like the same as yours. My name is Sofie and I live in Denmark, which means English is my 2nd language, but don't worry about that my english is not that bad, since I have a lot of friends in Wisconsin and Scotland.
I'm very interested in finding some one to travel with to Ireland since I find traveling together with some one more exciting than alone. Can I ask how old you are and when you were planning on going to Ireland? Reply to this

I am twenty (Will be 21 by the time I travel) and I plan on leaving here when I graduate which will be sometime at the end of June. Does that sound like our vacations will coincide? Not sure when you'll be graduating. How old are you? Reply to this

In response to: Msg #140971 I'll probably graduate around the same time as you, but I'm not sure if I'll leave right after my graduating because I'm also going to the states for 3 weeks and when those 3 weeks will be depends of an american summer camp.
I'm 19 and will be 20 by the time I graduate, so we're pretty much the same age.
How long do you plan on traveling?

Probably about a month/month and a half. I'm pretty flexible with the timing too. I'll be going to South Africa after Ireland and to Argentina after January but Ireland and S.A can be moved around a couple of months I just need some working time in between to get some money for the trips =)
Where in the states will you be? Reply to this

Okay, sounds good. I'll write a better response at some point after the 4th of august since I'm in Scotland on holiday right now. I'm going to Neenah-Menasha in Wisconsin. Reply to this

Sorry about the late response, I ended up having no internet 'till today.
My plan so far is to find a travelling guide about Ireland and figure out what I would like to see and do when there. I'm very interested in Irish/Celtic culture and music, though I'm no musician myself, so some of the things I want to do and see probably will have something to do with that.
My brother travelled Europe a couple of years ago and he tried couch surfing, which I would love to try too, because it gives us the opportunity to meet Irish people and experience the culture close up. If it doesn't work out we can just stay in hostels.
Let me know if your plan sounds similar to this? If not, I would love to hear your thoughts and plans.

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, summer's been getting crazy lately. Couch surfing sounds like fun. I was thinking of hostiles/tenting but couch surfing seems like it is going to give us a better cultural experience. I am also very interested in culture so we would probably end up planning similar routes. I'll start looking at some places to go to as well.

Do you have a time line yet? mine is getting pushed back a bit because I'm working at my summer camp. I was thinking on leaving the US around mid august. Do you know when your camp will take place yet? Reply to this

Sounds good. I just got 10 books or something about Ireland from the library the other day, so I'll probably get around reading them eventually when I get time. The camp will probably be around the 21st-28th of july. How does your schedule look like? Reply to this

camp for me will end mid August and I'm planning to hopefully leave after that. I have to fill out my application for when I go to South Africa because I'm going to be working at a sanctuary but the program starts every two weeks so that fairly flexible as well but I was hoping to be there the first or third weekend in October giving us a month and a half to travel.

Is your plan to stick to Ireland? I was hoping to go to London for a couple of days before my departure to S.A. Reply to this

What about before camp, would it be possible to go there? ... London is great, but I don't know if I want to go right after Ireland since I have been there before. Reply to this

Shit, that is a long time to spend at camp :O ... didn't think it would be that long. There's just one problem about this, I end school in the end of June and my plane was to start working in august 😞 Reply to this
