I am going to Valadivostok through Moscow with 8 hours of layover in Moscow. Will I have to go through custom check and passport twice?

Hi all,

I am an American going to Valadivostok on a tourist visa for 6 days. I am taking Aerofllot to
Moskow SVO and then 8 hours later will be on another Aeroflot flight to Valadivostok.
I am traveling light with just a carry on small suitcase. Since I will be in transit in Moscow for 8 hours, I imagine I will have to go through passport check and customs in Moscow.

My question is the about the rules and procedures for a foriegn traveler flying domesticaly in russia. Will I have to go through custom check and passport check again in Valdivostok?
Or will be it like traveling domesticaly in United States where once you get out of the plane you are free to exit the airport no more checking?

I appreciate any help on this.

Thanks
