Short stay in Siemp Reap. Any advice regarding accommodation and tours?

I will be in Siem Reap for only a few days before heading to India. If anyone has advice on accommodation and tours that will give me the best sense of the city in a short period of time, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

When I was there in August, my friend and I took the scenic boat from Battambang to Siem Reap (well worth the time and money!!!) and once we got off the boat, we ended up hiring our tuk tuk driver for the next 3 days around Angkor. They do charge quite a lot of money, so if you're looking for a cheap deal, you can take a moto just outside of town and hire a tuk tuk there. Prepare to bargain hard! We spent 3 days at Angkor and that was the perfect amount of time. If you're there just one day, the short circuit is a good bet, or the long circuit if you really want to get the most out of it! If you have three days, I highly recommend going to Beng Meleay, Kbal Spean, and Banteay Srei. Seeing all three takes the whole day since they're so far away. You have to hire a moto to take you though, as the roads are pretty rough. The temples are the main attraction, so we didn't spend too much time around Siem Reap, but at 7:00pm on Saturdays (if I remember correctly) a Swiss doctor, Beat Richner, does a charity benefit concert to raise awareness about the health situation and dengue fever epidemic in Cambodia. Great cello performance and fantastic cause, so it's definitely worth checking out. You'll see signs at the Kantha Bopha hospital on the way to Angkor. Can't recall exactly where we stayed, sorry!
