Solo traveller in Africa

Hi all,

I'm doing my round the world trip at the moment, it has been 6 months so far, currently in South Africa, thinking to stay in South Africa for another few weeks before heading to other Africa countries, I have no plans where to go at this stage, but just thinking to travel all the way from Southern Africa up to the Northern Africa, just wondering has anyone done something like this before and would be able to give me some advise. Such as what to do and what is the best way or safe way to travel like this.

I also looking for some volunteer opportunity here in Africa, (orphanage, etc), any suggestions?

If any like minded travellers are doing something similar or happen to be in Africa during this period, please drop me a line, any suggestions or meet up would be really appreciated.
