Hello!
I bought a one-way ticket to Buenos Aires for December 27th, 2011. I plan to trek around South America and the only plan I have so far is making sure I end up in Salvador, Brazil during Carnaval (March). After a few months in South America, I wanted to work my way up the Eastern coast of Africa, then do a few months in Europe, then Transiberian across Russia, then spend a few months in Asia. I'm pretty open about what I see and where I go... I just know I'll leave the U.S. in December and plan to roam free until I'm out of money. 😊
About me: I'm 24, female, and have traveled a lot in Europe and Asia. I am conversational in Spanish and Russian, should definitely brush up on my Bengali and Dutch, and can fumble with a few phrases in Mandarin and Indonesian. Any takers?

I am currently in Chile and am planning on being in Salvador during carnival next year. I am now looking for places to stay and they all seem to be pretty pricey. Have you found a place yet? Maybe we could somehow bunk together and make it a little cheeper. I am with my boyfriend and we heard that you can rent an apartment for a week and have a lot of people involved.
Reply to this Hi Eric and Tracy! I haven't started looking for a place yet, but the apartment idea sounds great. Do you know any others who are planning to be there? When would you arrive? I think I plan to fly from Caracas to Salvador on March 1st or March 2nd... then stay through Ash Wednesday at least. Will you be traveling from Chile?

I am also a solo traveller starting in February for Carnival however am undecided on Rio or Salvadore..
I am planning on travelling in South America for at least 3-6 months before heading to Spain for the summer.
Is there a particular reason you choose Salvadore?
If I decide Salvadore also would be happy to meet/share accommodation.
