taking a train in Europe

I have not been to Europe. I am going with a tour and will stay few more days longer to see a friend in Germany. Can I take a train from Charle de Gaulle airport, Paris to Wurzburg, Germany? I would like to know that how often the train leave, how long will it take to get there and how much for the train fare will cost?. I have million more questions. However, any help will be appreciated. By the way, I travel date will be April 2 of 2010. Thank you so much. Orawan

Swadee Ka Khun Orawan,

The journey takes approximately 5 hours and several trains leave throughout the day. You can look up the schedule yourself through www.raileurope.com.

Have a great trip!

Swadee ka Khun Tarinay,

Thank you so much for info. I looked at the web (before I posted the questions) that you told me but I see only schedule from Frankfurt to Paris. I tried to fill in the destination to what I want to go it is not available. I understand that different time is different prices. I have difficult time communicate with my friend. She is German and she does not speak much English. She lives in small town in Uettingen. Even though I am a adventurous person but I am a little bit scare to travel by myself in strange places because I am getting old (60). However, I really want to see my friend and her family. I should be okay. If you have any advice please give me.

Thank you for your time to answer my questions. I hope to hear from you again.

Thanks again.

Sawadee Ka Khun Orawan,

Mai pen rai ka! I would be happy to help.

You must transfer 1-2 stops to get to Wurzburg. From CDG, it looks like you must transfer at Brussels (Bruxelles) then Koeln before reaching Wurzburg.

I've never traveled to Germany before, but its rail system has a good reputation.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Best, Tarina

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: CDG
From: Paris Est
To: Wuerzburg
To: Hauptstrasse, Uettingen

You can query for CDG to Uettingen. However for buying a ticket you should query from Paris Est to Würzburg. For CDG to Paris Est use the RER (suburban train) to Paris Nord and walk or use the metro to Paris Est station. To Uettingen you can use a bus from Würzburg.
