Are you interested in the "other side of tourism"?

Would you like to visit or stay at places like council estates, tower blocks and in other soviet architectures? Are you interested in how people are living there? Ever wanted to try that lifestyle out, to live in a crappy concrete flat and to drive an old soviet Lada for a few weeks?

We are planning to organize concil estate trips, offering a sight on the real east-europen life. As millions are living this lifstyle here, we belive that it is a part of Hungary (and other countries here). Even soviet buildings are considered to be crappy, they had their own magic in them. It is like an utopia, a future vision from the 50's. Would you try this out? 😊 Reply to this

I would indeed try this out. What would an experience such as living in a council estate with a Lada cost, per day, per week....?

There are many council estates over Hungary, there are even towns with no "regular" buildings but tower blocks. There many districts with various characteristics. For example neat soviet monumental areas, poverty, and even ghetto districts.

Let us see one day:

- unilmited person (according to the size of the flat)
- incl. an eastern car (excluding the fuel)
- including a mobile phone to contact us anytime
+ a free sightseeing with a van, focusing on the local council estate districts. Interesting stories and landmarks to see.

It would cost 50 Eur a day for a group (3-4) person. Reply to this

Is that 50 Euros per person? That would be a bit expensive. It would mean that a family of 4 would have to pay 200 per day. Reply to this

There is an available one in Szeged, Hungary this moment. That is a real communist-like one 😊 Soon I will have another one at Székesfehérvár. I am going to make everything public on the website this week. Reply to this

No problem! I am thinking about going next Winter or Spring, so plenty of time.

I have been there in winter, and yes it is cold, but there are plenty of warm bars, and if you are in Budapest there are the Turkish baths to get warm in. I in fact think Budapest is nicer in winter. I was there once in Summer.

Also, im driving to budapest in july so maybe we can get something together for then.

Would those who try this, post here to let us know how it went. Reply to this
