Finding work in Europe

Best way to find a job to help fund my travels?
14 years ago, February 4th 2010 No: 1 Msg: #102420
Hi

I'm heading over to Europe in 5 months and was wondering what the best way to find a paying job to help fund your travels is.

I'm thinking of picking up backpacker hostel work; I heard some even trade work for a free bed.

It would help save me plenty of money.

Thing is, I'm not sure about how to get a working visa, or even if I should get one. What is the risk factor in working without a working visa?

Thanks if anyone can help.

Regards

Hello Saki 😊

I wouldnt rely on hostel work. It is hard to get. And, I think they tend to want people to work for longer term than just a few days.

I think the thing to do would be to have a work permit if possible and then stop for a while someplace and work for a while, save money, and then continue your travels.

Without a work visa, you could maybe try some farms to find out if they need anybody. Those may sometimes offer you a free place to stay in return for working and they would give you some money too.

And there is Couchsurfing, whose members might let you stay at their homes for free as a guest.

Hi Mel

Thanks for the reply 😊

Is there such thing as an EU working visa, entitling me to work anywhere in the European Union?

Thanks again

I dont know the answer to that, Saki. Maybe there is, because citizens of EU countries can work in all the EU countries. Reply to this
