Need information about travel between Chania airport and Kissamos.

I am going to Crete on Wednesday 21st April and I'm flying into Chania. I need to get to Kissamos to catch a ferry the next day, and was wondering if anyone knew how reliable the buses are/ how much it costs etc. I'm not too worried about this as it's during the day but on the way back I will have to take a taxi back to Chania airport. My ferry gets back to Kissamos at 23:58 and I am flying from Chania at 07:05 the next morning. Would it be possible to take a taxi to the airport/ what would be a reasonable fare?

Reply to this Hi, first the buses in Crete are called KTEL and there are two KTELs. You want the Chania KTEL obviously and if you search google with "KTEL chania" you will find it (can't put in the hyperlink here unfortunately), there is alsoan English version. There is about one bus an hour to Kastelli Kissamos (the town has two names and both are in use!), it takes about 45 min (Euro 4,20). But you have to catch the bus from town, and there are very few bus connections between airport and town (the time table is on the same page as for Kastelli), so a taxi may be more convenient, I would say about 15-20 Euros. From Kissamos to the airport your only possibilicy is taxi or hitch hiking (not very common, but you may be able to find someone on the ferry who is going to Chania). I found a page (explorecrete) with prices searching "chania kissamos taxi", it says 50 Euros but the price is from a couple of years ago. They also give some important information on taking long distance taxis. Read it carefully!
The KTEL buses are modern and reliable and the timetable is usually kept quite well. As you see you will have plenty of time to get from Kissamos/Kastelli to Chania airport! enjoy your trip Inga
