Hi all!
Im just planning on visiting Stockholm for a week on march next year and I\\\'ve been reading some information and tips on the web. I know that I should not believe all I read here and also the perception of a place/country is very subjective and depends on each person\\\'s experience, but Im a bit concerned about how welcomed would I feel on this city. I have read that there is still some kind of segregation or not so friendly beahaviour against some minorities, I\\\'m from Central America and can easily by mistaken by Musslim or Hindu. Should I expect some kind of unfriendly beahviour?? What is the attitude of the locals about foreigners an tourists??...I wanna enjoy my trip as much as I can, so just want to avoid some situations.
Thanks in adance for your comments on this matter!
Regards.

Hi Ivan, Stockholm is a very international city so in general you shouldn't have a problem. As a tourist I think it is rather unlikely that you will have a bad experience of some kind. I wouldn't say there is no segregation because some suburbs have a high proportion of poor immigrants from varius places on earth. On the other hand there are many people of none Swedish origin having good jobs and prominent positions, there is a black minister in the government for example. The thing that may be unpleasant is the subway at late night, especially at weekends when lot's of drunk young kids behave badly. As in any city you don't know it is good to check out where are the "unpleasant" areas byasking a local. But I think you will find it is a lovely city, although it may be cold in March. I Ivan,

My boyfriend, who is and looks Mexican, was in Stockholm during a backpacking trip and had a great experience there and met some friends who are still close. There are, of course, some racist people everywhere, but I don't think you should be worried about this visiting. Greek gal's comments are great - use common sense as you would in any city.
