If you're heading to Koh Phagnan for the party - some tips:

Get there a few days early (at least) - arrive as early in the day as possible. Ignore the touts at the pier, get a sawangthaw (taxi 100Bht) and look for a place in Had Riin - Sunset Beach has some good budget options - within staggering distance of the party.

Rooms will be between 400-1000 Baht per night - but be prepared for a hike in price on the full moon days.

The party itself is crazy (and fun!). Leave all your valuables either in the room/hotel safe - take just what you expect to spend plus a little hidden for emergencies. Pickpockets work the beach and you will lose your shoes...

The buckets are really strong - I don't know for sure but Thai Red Bull seems stronger than anywhere else... it's the reason I can make it to sunrise!

The Full Moon Party is one of the best parties around - so don't let some of the negative things above put you off 😊

Hope to see a few of you here. Reply to this

Hi,
I am thinking of going to Full Moon Party. I will be arriving to Bangkok 4th August and would like to stay there for a bit but as the party is the 6th I can't decide if I should head straight to the islands and then return to Bangkok later on or not...
What what you suggest? Is it really worth it? And how can I get to the island? Also, do you reckon I should find some accomodation in advance? Some people advice to arrive on islands early. Do you think I will have a problem in finding somewhere to stay? How long does it take from Bangkok to Kih Phangnan?
Thank you so much for your reply. Reply to this

Tough question 😉 - it's lots of fun - and if it's the only chance you have to go - maybe worth it... but there are lots of other parties in the area and you'll have fun in Thailand where ever you end up.

> And how can I get to the island?

There are many options - flying to Koh Samui from BKK, train to Surat Thani (12hrs) and then the ferry (2hrs), or one of the many many tour operators will send you on a bus similar times as train for around 1000bht.

> Also, do you reckon I should find some accomodation in advance?

You will find somewhere - even if you arrive the morning of the party - but it will be in the jungle - this is when the touts are useful at the pier! at least they find something for you. If you can find something online in advance then I'd recommend it.

Good luck with your decision! - if you do make it here send a message. Reply to this

So, what is the weather like these nights on Koh Pha Ngan? Is there enough rain to affect the Full Moon party fun?

I have never been to a Full Moon party. Last 2 times I was in Thailand, I was with a little kid. She would likey have loved the Full Moon Pary, but I would worry about what types of adult activities she would be seeing there, if I took her to one.

So, what is the music like at those parties? I heard that DJs come from all over the world to play at them. Reply to this
