Roma pass

Hi all

We are having a two days (I know it's short, but couldn't help it 😞( ) stay in Rome. We'll stay near the Termini station and want to cover Colosseum, Pantheon, Forum and a guided tour to Vatican.

Do you think buying a roma pass is justified? I understood that it gives free entries to first couple of museums also. Reply to this

Yes - I love the Roma Pass! You can get it at the main train station (tourism office) or airport. It basically gets you into two museums for free, other museums at a discount, and all buses and metros. It's the cost of two museum entrances but you get the ease of being able to hop on and off a bus or metro anytime even for just one stop. Plus they give you a good map of Rome and a book that tells you about each museum, their hours, cost, and major sights. The best part is you could call the customer service number and ask anything like "I'm trying to go from here to there - what's the best way to get there?" and they'll tell you exactly what bus/metro to take and saves you time and money of cabs when the public transportation is easy if they tell you what to take. Check out www.romapass.it.
If you need any additional tips, I put a guide together for Italy travel for my friends based on a recent trip I took so I can email that to you. Reply to this

Yes- Been to Rome twice and got the Rome Pass both times! I agree that the public transport aspect is probably one of the best! You should also consider taking a podcast tour of Rome from Sputnik Guides. It's a great way to get to know the city! Reply to this

Romapass is indeed a good deal if you mean to take a lot of buses and
visit at least a museum!Otherwise, for instance if you stay in the centre
and you'd rather walk around as visiting a museum, it's not worthy.
Also, Vatican Museums are not included in Roma Pass sites, while
the beautiful Borghese Gallery is, as well as the Colosseum!

Ciao!
If you are going to use the public transportation system (buses, metro, and trams) ... AND you plan to go to two major sites ( at minimum) , then the Roma Pass will work out great for you. Currrently they ae running €23. These two links may provide more insight into the many discounts that are available in Rome:

Have a great trip!

In response to: Msg #83846 Jeanette, I am going to be in Rome in Oct for a week and I am always in charge of transportation for our trips.... I wondered if you would share your guide with me? Also I have heard mixed reviews about getting around on public transportation. What is your recommendation? I should say that we are staying a bit out side of the city and we are planning on using the resort shuttle to get to the nearest train/bus stop that is about a few miles from our resort (carpediem roma golf club in guidonia monticelio). Any advice is appreciated!
