Looking for info on stay and travel in Venice

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have been advised that the best way to travel Venice is by foot. Is this true?

We'd spend only a day in Venice. I'd like to hear from you about the best things that we can cover on foot.

Regards

Joydeep,

Venice - some think the most beautiful place in the world. It is different from anywhere else you may visit. Enjoy and do not forget to take your camera.

There are no cheap hotels in Venice. Not any that I found anyway. Try the towns near Venice, Mestre and Mira (where I stayed) for lower rates. There is no shortage of bus and train services into Venice.

Traveling on foot is not only the best way but the only way.

You only have 1 day. Unless you want to see something specific, just go with the flow and enjoy. You may find the day too short. I suggest that, like everybody there, you walk (from bus/train station) to the Ponte di Rialto (you will see the signs) and then continue to the Piazza San Marco - and return on a different route, again via the Rialto. Everything you may want to see is on the way - many tourists, few locals, churches, museums, theatres, markets, artists, pigeons, gondolas, etc, etc - whatever you have an interest in may be there.

Think of us not there at the time, and enjoy.

Hello Jeydeep 😊

Yes, I think the best way to get around the old beautiful part of Venice is by foot. And waking around is a lovely experience, with so many pretty lanes as squares.

You could stay at a hostel in Venice. One of them at least is in a great location in the Old part of the town.
