My husband and I are planning to go to Europe for 25 days in October and our plan is to:
1. Fly into Madrid spend day or 2 there
2. Fly a cheap Airline to Rome, then take the train to naples, venice, veinna, berlin, amsterdam, Paris with day trips from various places.
Should we get the railpass ( so expensive) but is it worth it ?
Is this too much for 25 days?
We will stay in hostels but only in private rooms, is this acheivable and approx how much should we buget for for 25 nights?
How much money per day should each of us account for?
Thanks

You could probably take night trains for some of those journeys to save some money on accomodation and to save some time.
A train pass may not be the most economical way to go. You could try the train company websites for the various countries and buy bargain tickets in advance. That is what I do. I buy mine on the German train company website usually. I can take a night train from Munich to Berlin(for example) for 29 Euros. Or I can take a night train from Munich to Amsterdam(for example) for 39 Euros. These prices include all taxes, but the prices will be a bit higher if you want to be in the sleeper car, but still good. I just sleep in a seat to keep the costs down. To get tickets for these prices you will need to buy in advance. I think you can buy them up to something like 3 months in advance.

Try to stay at least 3 nights in everyplace you stop. That will prevent you from taking on too much.

Private rooms in hostels are not necessarily less expensive than guesthouse or hotel rooms.

That is a difficult one to answer, because it all depends on what you do, where you eat and where you sleep.
