Hi everyone
I would like to know how much it will cost when transferring money from my new UK bank account (most likely Barclays) to my old Westpac account in Australia. Also do they take a percentage of the entire amount that you send on top of the transfer fee? Is there a limit on how much u can send or how often?
Thanks!!!! Reply to this

Hello Tammy, in Australia, the Telegraphic Transfer amount is a set figure - around the $20-$25 mark. In this case, it is better to transfer as much as possible in one transaction. As for the maximum you can transfer, you need to check with your bank, it can vary widely. Sometimes there can be a daily and/or a weekly limit.

Just a hint, if transferring a lot of money, pay close attention to the exchange rates. The Aussie dollar is just coming off 8-9 month high rates. Once it drops a bit against the Pound, then transfer away - even a small currency fluctuation could mean quite a few dollars when you are talking about a large amount.
