Looking for travel ideas from Hamburg to Frankfurt.
My wife and I are heading to a business meeting in Hamburg in September. We are also traveling to Bavaria and Austira after. I have two questions about traveling.
1. How long of a drive is it from Hambrug to Rothenburg?
2. I would prefer to rent the car in Frankfurt and train to Frankfurt from Hamburg, but the cost for two one-way one-time tickets is close to 200 Euros. Is there a better way of doing this? Is the Holiday Pass for 37 Euros worth looking into?
Or do we drive it and stay somewhere along the way???

Reply to this hey chris, i can totally agree with you that you dont want to pay 200 euros for the train. we have a very well working system of car pooling in germany. i live in germany and that is usually the only way i travel.

the drive will take between 5 and 6 hours (you can go straight from hamburg to rothenburg on the autobahn network) and wont cost more than 50 euros.
about the train: we have state train tickets that cost about 30 euros for a group up to 5 people and they are valid for one state. if you want to train to frankfurt you only cross lower saxony and hessen, so this would only cost you about 60 euros. the only problem about this kind of ticket is that you are only able to take the regional trains that take about 7 and a half hour to frankfurt and the fast but expensive train reaches frankfurt in less than 4 hours.
