Planned to go to London & France, is it possible to go one more country? Wouldnt it be too hurry for that? Reply to this

Hi Shirytse,

16 days should be enough time to explore at least three countries while you're in Europe. You could take a trip up to Scotland from London, or go into Germany or Spain from France.

Hello Shirytse 😊

You could spend one week in London and one week in Paris. You wouldnt really have time to travel extensively around France.

To find travel companions, you could put a post in the Looking for Travel Companions Forum.

Thanks Jon

Yup, thinking about that, what do u think about italy? I heard that Italy is not a safe country. Germany is good too,.....dont really know where to go....

For London, apart from central London, I will visit some small town around London, take 5 days I think.
For France, Paris, the southern of France is great too, thinking about to visit or not becos i think summer is the best time to visit the southern, becos i can swim or have sunbathing there. I guess it would be too cold in OCt/Nov.

Hey, how's the xmas season in europe? will all the shop close during xmas? will the hostel/B & B has extra charge during the xmas days?

I' ve 3 option of the travelling period: 25/9-10/10, 23/10-7/11, 18/12-2/1, when is the best time to go?

As far as I know, Italy is not a particularly dangerous country, and no more dangerous than anywhere else in Central or Southern Europe. I don't think the south of France will be cold in October, but it probably won't be warm enough to go sunbathing!

From London you'll be able to take day trips to Oxford, Brighton, Cambridge or Birmingham. The train journey from Paddington station to Exeter is one of my favourites in the world, you'll see the very best of the British countryside, but it's probably best to make it a two-day trip.

Christmas season in Europe is fantastic - lots of different food and music, and everyone is in a holiday mood. I'd say it's the best time to be here.

HI J

I think so, everywhere is full of joy during Xmas, but everyone is celebrating xmas with family and friends, wouldnt it be boring to celebrate alone :o ?...anyway, i'm sure I can make some new friends there :D

I have a lot of idea of London, but limited in France/Paris. Any small town or any special recom.? Where should I stay in Paris?

Thanks!!

People do spend time with their families at Christmas, but not all of the time, and for the two weeks before 25th December students are on holiday from school, college and university, so will be more sociable - especially as they will be doing last-minute shopping!

Try this hostel-booking website for Paris accommodation. I don't know France particularly well, but there is a very picturesque town in the north called St. Omer which I've been to a couple of times; it might be a good place to spend a few hours between London and Paris.

The shops often have extended opening hours in December until late on Christmas eve. Then from Chrismas day to 2nd of January they have limited opening hours.

Book hotels and hostels in advance if you are travelling at that time of the year. A lot of them close.

Europe is beautiful at Christmas, but it can make travelling difficult and lonely. Most locals go home to their families at this time.

awww. that's too bad.
I am open to everywhere since I never been to Europe. I am excited to go, but I am little scared about traveling alone. I am hoping I can find someone to travel with. It would be more fun than by myself as well. I am very interested in Italy tho. Spain, Frace are good too.

I am from Fujian. =)

Hi Shiry & Ellie,
I’m 29 from HK, been in US for 18+ years.
I have been wanted to go to Europe for a while.
I enjoy traveling, backpacking, and photography.
I had travel to Japan by myself and it was pretty fun, just randomly meeting people who are traveling as well or sightseeing, also done a road trip around N. America for 2 months.

I'm looking for someone to travel to all difference places together at all time.
I usually can take 1 upto 2 weeks off from my work for vacation, and haven't plan where to go yet. Reply to this

Hey David,

I will be in France from May 31 to June 11. I am planning to stay in Paris for one day near Effiel tower, then going to Rennes for two days, tours for two days, and coming back to Paris for the rest. I am meeting a backpacker there as well. If you are interested, let me know. This is tentative. So if you are interested in doing other stuff. That's fine as well. Reply to this

Hi Ellie,
Seem like you have things planned already.
Since you two have different des, I am thinking maybe I would want to try France for 1 week and then maybe UK for the other week. Breaking my vacation into two separate weeks would be a better choice for me I think.
I have sent you a private message, so let me know.

Hi Shiry,
Well, I don’t have much planned yet as I am very spontaneously sometimes, and for vacation, if there is a plan I’ll follow if not, as long as I have some kind of idea where I am going, then I’ll just go and decide what to do there. Most of my trips are like that. =)
But London and Edinburgh sound great and we can take the sleeper train and save on hotel.
I was in Japan for 2 weeks like 6 years ago, and going from Hiroshima and all the way to Tokyo, making stops in Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka, and Nagoya. It was very fun and gets a taste of Japan. The people were so nice; I got so much help from all those I met on the trip, and randomly meeting up with hikers/backpackers from all over the world, and sharing experience together.
