I know where I'm flying *from* and am trying to find cheapest place to fly *to*, suggestions on ticket search engines?

I have tentative dates for when I want to fly out of the US to Europe, but I don't really care where I end up :p. Has anyone come across a website that would lay out flights to a number of cities at once if you input dates and one end of a round trip? Or even give a list of popular routes? Reply to this

Hi Sara,

My advice would be to open Expedia several times - so you have a few windows open showing the same page - then set your search parameters to different cities and compare the prices from there. Once you're in Europe there are three or four budget airlines that all offer cheap flights to and from many cities.

If you are looking for a cheap price, hit the cities with the most competition an traffic....London, Frankfurt and Paris.

Another cheap option is to check on Aer Lingus web site, they have really cheap East Coast (NYC/Boston/Chicago) flights to Dublin...from there you can hit all Europe on low cost airlines. Reply to this

I like sidestepcom. Their ticket search is very easy to use, and it's awesomely thorough. Great site. ~eric. Reply to this

Yeah, I've mostly been doing that, just comparing multiple windows: takes forever and they're always updating the costs. I called a travel guide and she laughed at me 😞

Dublin does seem to be the best costwise so far, thanks for the tip! Sidestep looks like the exact same website as kayak.com except called something else? Strange.

Hello Sara 😊

The search engine I use for long haul flights is www.billigfluege.de
Click on the US flag to change it to English.

What I do to find a destination is make a list of all the places I would be interested in flying to. Then I search for each one on different dates until I come accross a good bargain flight price. Then I buy it immediately. Prices for the same flight can change from one hour to the next.

You could also try the Aerlingus site
They seem to have a lot of flight routes between the US and Europe for good prices.

Here is a thread on TravelBlog that may interest/inspire you.
