You can best fly Barcelona-Madrid (1h) for 65 Euros return, tax incl., try Vueling Airlines:

http://www.vueling.com/

Bus (8h) should cost 45 Euros return (www.alsa.es). Its exhausting though. Train (6h) 120 Euros return (www.renfe.es). Flying is the best option. Vueling works great.

What to visit:

-In BCN: www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com
To move around: Metro de Barcelona. Info and map download here: http://www.tmb.net/en_US/home.jsp
-Around BCN: Sitges, Cadaqués, Roses, Figueres...France?
To get there: Short Distance Train ('Renfe Cercanías')-http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/barcelona/
-More: (Catalonia Official Tourism Site): http://www.gencat.net/turistex_nou/home_ang.htm

-In MAD:http://www.webmadrid.com
Best way to move around MAD: Metro de Madrid by far. Download the updated map here: http://www.metromadrid.es/
Buy a 10 trip ticket 'Metrobus' (6,15 Euros). Valid for metro and bus. Can be shared by more than one person. Can also be used from Madrid-Barajas Airport (old terminals T1,T2,T3 ) to the city for 0,62 cents/ride, the cheapest transfer ever 😊. In case you arrive to brand new T4 there's a free bus to the older ones.

-Around MAD: Segovia, Toledo (use train 'Renfe Cercanías')-http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/madrid/
-More: http://www.descubremadrid.com/en/index.asp

...

Other possibilities:
-Rent a car to move around Catalonia at your ease (air conditioned!!)
-Consider also visiting Pamplona for San Fermín Fiestas (July 7th - 16th) . But DO NOT run the bulls. 😊
-If flying with Ryanair remember they fly to GIRONA airport, not Barcelona. See 'Barcelona Tourist Guide'
-Most museums are free on Sundays. One of my favourite hidden little treasures in Madrid is the Sorolla Museum, an impressionist painter and his own XIX century house-studio. Also free on Sundays. http://museosorolla.mcu.es/index.html (only in spanish, sorry)

Sorry for the telegram-style. Have fun.

Hi,
Definitely! You have chosen a very good time to visit Spain and all their cities. I had also gone there in the same time last year and I enjoyed the places surrounding Barcelona the most.
Anyways! Why don’t you contact a car rental company? Actually they will definitely help you in to go every tourist places and even to go smaller towns in the countryside. We had rented a car from a car rental company namely Simple Auto Rental. Yes, I am giving you the website address of this. Its http://www.simpleautorentals.co.uk/cheapest_car_hire_spain.shtml
Main thing of this company is cheaper than others with quality services; this is my personal experience I am sharing with you.
Enjoy!
Puja

The Spanish capital can be a great place for daytime walks through districts rich in historic architecture and visits to some of Europe's most impressive art museums. The city has one of the liveliest centres of nightlife in Europe with an abundance of colourful restaurants and bars as well as great entertainment. You can easily get a city breaks in Madrid at http://www.mymadrid.co.uk.

Whilst enjoying a short break in Barcelona immerse yourself in the great architecture and design which is characteristic of the city and may be seen in its streets, squares, bars and restaurants as well as landmark buildings by Gaudi and other celebrated architects. You can book any hotel out in Barcelona at very cheap rates on http://www.mybarcelona.net. They also provide city breaks packages to Barcelona. Reply to this

Hi,
If your there in July then you might want to look into the Running of the Bulls. Its held between the 7th to 14th July in Pamplona. The trouble is it gets extra crowded so it depends if you you don't mind battling the crowds.
Have fun! Reply to this
