Don't go to Italy. Try a different country. That country is just to overrated. When i went there it was nothing like i suspected. Reply to this

Hello Chris 😊

Italy is a beautiful country. I have been there 5 times. Be sure to hang out in Venice for a day since you will be close to it. It does get a lot of tourists but that does not take away from how beautiful it is and you are not going in the middle of the tourist season....

For snowboarding I suppose the thing to do is head towards the Alps. Hopefully, a snowboarder(if there are some on this site) will give some information.

I recommend that you get the Lonely Planet Guide to Europe. That will give you suggestions about what to do in the various European countries as well as giving practical information about accomodation, transport, safety..... It is available in most bookshops around the world for around 35 Euros and also on the internet.

I lived outside Aviano for 3 years. Besides Venice for a day, definitely make it to Florence for a few days and can spend an afternoon at Pisa. If you are into wine, highly recommend a few days wine tasting in Montalcino (Brunello) and Mantepulciano (Vino Nobile) and stop in Siena. You can also go wine tasting in Veneto by lake garda (amarone) or south of Milan in piedmonte (barolo/barbaresco). if you like white wines, the best that Italy has to offer is only about 1 hour away near Slovenia. Highly recommend a few days in Slovenia which is , especiall Lake Bled area and also a couple great caves/castles. Heading up to Salzburg, Austria is not far as well and is abeautiful drive through the dolomites/Cortina.

In the immediate area of Aviano, go to Lake Barcis. If you are a soccer fan, the nearest club is Udinese about 1 hour away, and definitely see a game if they are playing Milan, Inter, Juventus or Roma.

Rome is a little further, and I prefer Florence, but you may want to go. Milan is okay, but I dont think it has much to offer more than the cathedral, last supper. (I am not a big shopper nor into fashion) however, going to an Inter/AC Milan game was one of the best sport event I have ever seen. Reply to this

Close to Venice and close to the Dolomites.. not bad at all, believe me.
Also, there other nice cities with historic centres dating back to the Middle Ages (Padua, Treviso, Vicenza) not far from there.
But basically it depends on what you want to do or what you're passionate for.
I love soccer and wines.. and Italy is a godsend here... Reply to this
