I'm heading to Italy in February/09. Do you think my backpack and I will freeze to death? Where is super awesome in Italy in early February?
Reply to this Hello Jennifer 😊
I dont think it is all that cold in February but that does depend on what you are used to. I was in Italy in October, November and January. It got a bit too cold to sit outside in my opinion but it certainly was not cold. I just wore a light sweater, jeans and a light jacket.
I think Winter is a good time to visit any of the tourist popular towns in Italy because in Summer they are swarming with tourists. Go to Venice, Pisa, Rome....

Reply to this Hi Jennifer,
It depends where you are - if you're in a major city then it will be relatively warm and inviting. Like Mell we have visited Italy in October, December, January and March (as well as the summer months) and you often get clear, crisp days filled with sunshine.
Just ensure you pack fleeces/windproofs and perhaps some warm inner clothing such as a thermal vest.
Bologna is particularly good and vastly underrated - additionally, it is a university city with a great buzz in term time.
Reply to this You have to visit Venice at least at some point during the Carnival... 13-24 February! Amazing fun, unless you have a phobia of masks 😊
