Hi just saw your post and wondered if you are still looking for a companion?
I'm looking to travel for two weeks in April 2009 (roughly from the 4th - 18th) in Peru & possibly Chile and wondered how that fits in with your plans?
To tell you a bit about me, I'm 41, English and am fairly well travelled (most of Europe, India, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Egypt, Jordan, Israel etc) mostly with companions found on the net. I'm open to an itinerary but definitely want to go to Machu Picchu, Cusco, the Nazcar lines and see some of the Amazon.
I have found travelling with a companion really useful in the past, partly as i think it's great to have someone to share the experiences with - but also i think it's safer, and definitely a whole lot cheaper (as you can negotiate some good deals with two, share taxi costs etc).
Hope you don’t mind but (if you are interested) I have a couple of questions for you?
1) How good is your spoken English? (your written English is excellent) - Only my Polish is non existent and it would be good to be able to communicate well.
2) What level of travel/accommodation of you looking for? I’m quite happy with backpacker level (though I generally prefer a cheap room of my own to a dorm) and I don’t mind “roughing it” - in fact, I find you get to meet more interesting people and locals that way.
3)I have travelled with some female companions before and there has been some expectancy from them for me to help them out (carry their kit some times etc). Sorry if I sound a bit harsh - but I want to enjoy myself and don’t want to be anybody else’s Sherpa.
Sorry for the questions but I think it’s better to be honest from the beginning. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have, hope to hear from you soon
Nick
