My wife and I, along with our two dogs, wish to travel from Scotland to Bulgaria next March.
Ideally we wanted to take a car and drive the distance, but we have found that we cannot hire a car in the UK and travel to Bulgaria, and return the car to the rental company somewhere in Europe - this is simply not permitted by any car company in the UK - that I have found.
Does anyone know of a car rental/leasing company that will permit this?
Or does anyone know of a better way to make the journey? Given we have 2 dogs with us, we don't want to fly, and train/bus is probably out of the question.
Perhaps we can buy a bomb of a car in the UK. Might be cheaper than renting?
Some background info - we are aussies travelling around slowly - been in Canada for the last 2 years, and plan to be in scotland for 3 months before 'moving' to Bulgaria for a few years.....
thanks in advance for your friendly advice!
Adrian
Reply to this Hi,
Most car rental companies are very restricted when it comes to East Europe and dropping off your car. Buying a very cheap car in the UK and try to sell it on/dump it may be the best option.
enjoy your trip! sounds fun!
