Hello Lucy 😊

There is a free magazine with accomodation lists that gets distributed in London every week, usually at subway stations.
It is called TNT. They probaby have a website by now so you could try searching.

It might be possible to get shared accomodation in the centre of London for a not too expensive price. I lived near the centre in a shabby shared appartment but that was a lot of years ago so I dont know what is available these days.

Hi Lucy,

I know a website I could recommend you, it is studios-london.com. They have also flatshares which would be the best solution for you, I think. I don't know where all of them are located but give it a try. I went to England for 3 months and for my needs it was just perfect, I lived near Picadilly circus, but I don't know what you expect to pay. It depends of course on your housemates if the accommodation is clean 😉 But everybody can be educated!!
I am here for more questions if I can help you!!

Good luck, Anna Reply to this

Hello Anna 😊

How much did you pay? Did you share your room or just the appartment?

Hi Mel,

I paid around 90 for a week, I staid in a double because I had a friend who came with me to London. It was very easy to find something, because on the page, when you are alone you can't book a double room. The apartment was really nice and -to be precise- near the waterloo station, it is called Dover Castle Flatshare. You can also have a single but I don't know how much it would be... For me and my friend it was just perfect!!

Thank you Anna 😊

90 pounds seems like a lot but I suppose London is an expensive place and that is what it costs these days. But great location!

When I lived there I lived in an appartment block that was being done up. The owner let out the rooms in the appartments that were not yet done up to backpackers who were working in London for a while. It was very cheap but not much privacy as we all shared rooms with strangers and not much space because there was just a small kitchen an the living room had been turned into a bedroom. But the great advantage was, one only had to give a weeks notice to leave and there was no BS with complicated contracts. You just pay and stay.

Hi Lucy!
Like you, I plan (nothing sure yet) to move to London soon (around november) but I've already checked some websites where you can find accomodations in the different areas of the city and for a wide range of prices...
I can advice you moveflat.com or gumtree.com
I guess that I will use these website to find a flatshare when I'll definitely take my decision to go to London...
I hope that I could help you! 😊 Reply to this

Hello Lucy 😊

Thanks for sharing. I removed your URL but if anyone wants it you can send it to them via the private messaging system.

This is an attempt to keep the amount of spam we receive on this site under control. Posting a question and then answering it oneself with ones own link is a common spamming tactic so we want to ensure it does not happen as much as we can. Sorry to inconvenience you like this Lucy. 😊

I saw a London rent guide which has a list of average rents in different London areas in this
London flat compilation of info, tips and useful sites. I'm not actually looking for one for myself, but I guess I was just so excited with my London vacation next month, I had been searching the web for almost about anything on London! Hahaha.. Well, at least, I think I was able to put it to good use (like being able to help you with your query - hopefully).

Look for YHA hostels. They are Youth hostels and clean as anywhere. If you are looking longer term get a train to Beckenham Junction that is on the fast and slow train routes and around 30 min from Victoria. Penge the stop before is cheap. Beckenham is a little more expensive. Agents to try for Penge is Baxter lambert, or Asshetons. For Beckenham there is letzone, Ashetons etc. I rent out a one bedroom flat in Anerley for 650GBP per month- just to give you a guide.

Hope it helps.

gumtree.com is awesome but be wary of the "scammers" who will pester you to pay deposits though bank cheques, moneygram, western union etc.....if they can't meet you face to face something is fishy!

in our experience ... good luck
