I am planning a trip to Germany and just looking for information. Especially on the Nurnberg, Garmisch, Fussen, and Rothenberg odT. Any specific or general information on these areas would be greatly appreciated. Reply to this

I have never personally been to Germany - so I won't b able to help much. So - what kind of things are you looking to do?

Which guide book have you got so far?

With a few more specifics hopefully someone can recommend a few things. Reply to this

I have Germany for Dummies and Frommer's Germany 2004. I plan to start in Nurnberg then circle around through Garmisch, Fussen, back up to Rothenberg odT, and end up back in Nurnberg. This is a 12 day trip and I am very budget conscience. I am a little worried about making motel reservations on the internet with the language difference and all. But I'm also worried about trying to find someplace to stay once we arrive. Do you think it is best to let a travel agent handle all the reservations and plane tickets? Won't the hotels a travel agent books be more expensive places? We don't need anything fancy just someplace to sleep. Plus, I am looking at like if I have to pay an agent that is just money out of my pocket and if the reservations get screwed up it's not like the agent can fix it. I guess I just keep thinking if something goes wrong I'll have some else to blame. Anyhow, specific places I would like to learn more about are Schloss Neuhof in Nurnberg and Schloss Leonrod a short distance away. If anyone knows if they are with the time and effort to visit or is time best used someplace else. Thanks for your help. Reply to this

I haven't traveled to Germany yet either, but I see a lot of We's and Motels/Hotels in there... 😊 are you traveling with a significant other, or a friend?

If you are on a budget, have you checked out the Hostels that will be along the way? Maybe you can break it up to be a half Hostel half Hotel kinda trip... should save you some cash. I wouldn't be too concerned about the language barrier. Germany is a pretty westernized country, and as far as business and tourism goes, emails/reservations in English shouldn't be much of an issue. Make sure that all reservations you make you have printouts of, and take them with you. If possible, (this is my personal thought) book with your Gold or Platinum card to protect yourself. If they charge you then screw you, just bring it up with your credit card company, unless of course you no call no show.

Again, never been there, these are my generalized thoughts and how I traveled in Japan. The language barrier there affected nothing. 😊 Reply to this
