I am traveling around Europe this Summer for 3 weeks, (2 in Spain and 1 in Greece). I am looking for suggestions on what islands to visit in Greece, and why! I have only a week, and I am planning on flying into Athens, and am wanting to visit a few islands, like Santorini, what can you recommend?! THANKS!
Reply to this I am visiting Greece for the first time in late July. It took me about 5 months to finally decide on which islands to visit. Everyone has a different favorite, and there are so many to choose from. I decided on Santorini, Naxos, and Paros. 3 nights on each island.
I chose Santorini because everyone that I have talked to says that the sunsets there must be seen, and that it is a very beautiful island. I chose Naxos and Paros because the beaches are supposed to be great and they both have beach camping sites. I plan on doing a lot of lounging on the beach and exploring the islands on moped/scooter.
I have pre-booked all accommodations. Oia Youth Hostel in Santorini has nothing but great reviews everywhere I looked. Maragas Beach Camping(Naxos) and Krios Beach Camping(Paros) also have been reviewed very favorably.
I guess as most people say, it comes down to what you are looking for. If you are looking for the party thing then Mykonos and Ios are the islands that everyone suggests for that. I am staying away from those two islands on purpose, just not my thing.
