hi, i am planning a trip round europe in the summer and was wondering if it is recommended to book hostels in advance. i will be going for 6 weeks, i dont want to have to keep to a rigid structure but also dont want to spend alot of time in cities looking for a place to sleep. any advice would be appreciated
thanks
Reply to this If you are staying in major cities like Amsterdam then it is definitely a good idea to book in advance.
Hostelling Intenational has a book-a-bed-ahead system where you can do this and pay in your own currency. I don't know whether it now covers all hostels as it used to only be the major ones prior to the internet booking site being set up.
Reply to this You can try it day by day by checking what accommodation is available at the last minute, yuo can see which places have rooms available at the last minute,
Planeurope has a last minte section or you can look for places that includes budget accommodation on
Europe last minute hotel availability and that includes also budget places to stay
Reply to this Hello Jamesm 😊
If you are traveling during tourist season it may be an idea to book them all in advance if you know for sure exactly when you will be in each city. Otherwise, just book them a few days in advance.

Reply to this Hi Jamesm:D i think if you're going to major cities, it's better to find something there, not to book in forward. it's more adventurous to find some accomodation:D
