Alone

Hi all i have previously posted in ref: to travelling and my budget etc of which i recieved useful info. So big thank you for the help there. Now i have yet another issue i really could do with a little reasurance with.

After endless chats with my partner we have decided to play things to an end of which i feel is for the better as i have felt for several weeks now to travel alone. But slightly worried as to have i made the right choice? I am 26 years old a very very sociable person who can chat for hours. But will i be alone throughout my jorney? Is it as many say you meet hundreds of great people possibly finding that soulmate on the way.

I have aimed after feedback to now spend huge amounts of time in SE Asia and little time in Auz and west coast of the states. So i will be arriving in Asia around November this year and wondered if there are many others who would be interested in possibly meeting up to start a grp etc for that area? Or if there is anybody who is yet still in the process of creating there set jorney as i have not yet booked the whole process and could possibly book up with others if they dont mind.

My ideal Itinery was set to hit Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Auz, Cook islands and finally into LA then back to the uk.

Any help on this matter would be great again its down to the stress and worries of being alone.

Regards

Jon

Alright Jon mate. I'm in a fairly similar situation, I just split from a long term relationship and I'm leaving in September to travel the world alone also. Although I'm a little younger than yourself, currently 20 (21 when I'm traveling), I understand your worries. I have the same questions, but many people have reassured me that I will meet so many people and will be rarely alone, unless that is what I want.

In term of traveling with someone, your time scales really do match mine well... Im flying out to South Korea in September and will be there for a few weeks with family, I will then be flying into Bangkok around the end of Sept. From there I plan to travel across land to Cambodia, Vietnam and possibly Laos. Then down the South Thailand to the beaches and then onto Malaysia and then Singapore. I plan to be in SE Asia for 3 months, then I plan to land in Sydney a couple of days before New Years Eve.

If that very rough plan sounds interesting to you then I'd be happy to meet up or just talk some more about possibly meeting for parts of the journey.
The parts I'm particularly looking for people to join me are the land travel to Cambodia and Vietnam, don't feel too safe doing this alone!

Just to further the plan... I will then be spending probably 3 months in Australia, 1 month in NZ, couple weeks in Fiji, then I will be spending time in Central and South America for a further 4-5 months but this part I'm not planning too much yet.

Hello Jon 😊

I moved this to the Looking for Travelling Companians Forum. I think you will be more likely to find people looking for company while travelling here.

I think you are doing the right thing by choosing to travel. I think when people are in their 20s it is the ideal time to go out and find out how they want to live their lives and what type of person they want to be. Many people who are in relationships for much of their 20s break up when they are around 28 because they have not had the time and space to discover who they are.

I asked my boyfriend last night what he would think if I said I want to travel alone for 6 months. He said he would think it is weird. I suppose I got in this relationship at an ideal time. I wanted to add more variety to my life so I was willing to move travelling over a bit to make room for it. 😊
